The tow in progress
This houseboat’s hull had deteriorated over time and needed to be replaced. The boat had to be towed to a location where it could be lifted by crane and then lowered onto a new hull. The operation was complicated by the fact that the hull sat very low in the water, with only about 10cms of freeboard – any wash or turbulent water risked flooding it.
R8 Marine pushed the houseboat very slowly, at a slow walking pace, to minimise the wash. We also had a crew member on board with a high volume pump, in case any water did get into the hull. The towing was completed without incident and we returned the houseboat to its mooring on the new hull.
